On 21 May UQ through its Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI) and the Geological Survey of Queensland (GSQ) co-hosted a online workshop. The aim of this webinar is to provide a range of perspectives on what companies can do at exploration stage to help understand the geometallurgical characteristics of the orebodies they are exploring and developing. How can we use mineralogical and geochemical information to predict mineral processing behaviour and spatially map it at exploration and development scale? What can we do to identify potential opportunities for sorting or waste rejection that may improve the economics of the orebody? What information will company metallurgists want from the exploration team, and how can they best work together? Chaired by Rick Valenta (SMI/UQ), Panelists included: Alice Clark – SMI/UQ; Angela Escolme – CODES/UTas; Nathan Fox – SMI/UQ; Scott Halley – Mineral Mapping Pty Ltd; Hedley Widdup – Lion Selection Ltd; Bevin Wong – JKTech
