Dr Lucy MacGregor, Chief Technology Officer of Cognitive Geology Ltd
Recent advances in multi-physics approaches to characterising the earth
Creating a robust image of the earth is a key step that enables the interpretation of geological processes, characterisation of sub-surface resources or prediction of sub-surface behaviour. Combining multiple geophysical approaches in the characterisation process can lead to a more robust interpretation than if a single method is applied. However a one-size-fits all approach is seldom ideal: workflows should be tailored to the study objectives and making use of a range of algorithmic approaches to ensure the best result. Here we will explore multi-physics analysis, its pros and cons, challenges and pitfalls, using case study illustrations.
Dr MacGregor is an accomplished research scientist with over 20 years of experience in geophysics, multi-physics reservoir characterisation and data analysis. Expertise in innovative workflow and algorithm development to solve technical challenges. Significant international experience, both technical and commercial. Extensive experience in all legal aspects of Intellectual Property portfolio management and strategy. Skilled in managing technical teams made up of specialists with a diverse range of skills, to ensure successful project outcomes.
